Is it free?
Yes, with no watermark and no page limit.
Does it need an account?
No. There is no account system.
Is my file processed on my device?
Yes. The file is read by your browser and never uploaded. There is no server to send it to.
What formats are supported?
PDF in. PDF out, one file per page, or a single file of the pages you picked. Several files arrive as a ZIP.
What are the limits?
No page limit. Thumbnails are drawn for the first 24 pages; every page beyond that is still selectable by number.
Does it work on mobile?
Yes, on any modern mobile browser. Large files are limited by the memory the phone gives the browser.
Does it work offline?
Yes, after you have used it once. Your browser keeps what the tool needs, so it then works with no network connection.
Can I pull out just a few pages instead of splitting everything?
Yes. Choose "One file of the pages I pick", tick the pages you want or type them as 1-5, 8, and they come out as one PDF in the order they appear in the original.
Does splitting reduce the quality?
No. The pages are copied across as they are, not re-rendered, so text stays text and images keep their original data.
Why is my 200-page PDF only showing 24 previews?
Drawing hundreds of previews would make the page slow for everyone to save a few people some scrolling. Pages past the first 24 appear as numbered tiles and select exactly the same way.
Can I split it into two halves, or into chunks of ten pages?
Not in one go. The two options are one file per page, or one file holding the pages you pick. To split a 20-page file in half, pick pages 1-10 and download, then pick 11-20 and download again. The original is never changed, so running it twice costs nothing.
What happens with a password-protected PDF?
It is turned away when you open it, with a message saying so, before any splitting starts. Remove the password with the Unlock PDF tool and come back.
What are the output files called?
One file per page gives report-001.pdf, report-002.pdf and so on inside report-split.zip, numbered so they sort in page order. Picking pages gives a single report-pages.pdf.
