How it works / no cloud
A conversion engine, not an upload form.
filetity draws your signature onto the page's existing content stream with pdf-lib, so the signature lands on top and nothing underneath is rebuilt. Text stays text, other images keep their bytes, and the page keeps its size and rotation. The signature you draw never leaves the browser, and neither does the document.

- Is it free?
- Yes, with no watermark and no page limit.
- Does it need an account?
- No. There is no account system.
- Is my file processed on my device?
- Yes. The file is read by your browser and never uploaded. There is no server to send it to.
- What formats are supported?
- PDF in, PDF out. Draw a signature, or use a PNG or JPG of one.
- What are the limits?
- This applies a visible signature. It is not a certificate-based digital signature and carries no PKI identity or tamper-evident seal. Password-protected PDFs must be unlocked first.
- Does it work on mobile?
- Yes, on any modern mobile browser. Large files are limited by the memory the phone gives the browser.
- Does it work offline?
- Yes, once the page has loaded. The tool keeps working with no network connection.
- Is this a legally binding signature?
- It is an electronic signature, the same kind you make by signing a printout and scanning it, and in most places for most agreements that is accepted. What it is NOT is a digital signature: there is no certificate proving who signed, and nothing that would show the document had been altered afterwards. If a counterparty has asked specifically for a digital or certificate-based signature, this is not that, and any tool telling you otherwise is selling you an assurance it cannot deliver.
- Where does my signature go after I draw it?
- Nowhere. It is drawn on a canvas in your browser, trimmed, and written straight into the PDF in memory. It is not stored, not sent anywhere, and gone when you close the tab. That matters more here than on most tools: a signature is the one thing you should be least willing to upload to a stranger.
- Can I sign more than one page?
- Yes. Move between pages and click where the signature goes on each. The image itself is embedded once no matter how many pages carry it, so initialling a long contract does not multiply the file size.
- Can I use a photo of my real signature instead of drawing one?
- Yes. A PNG with a transparent background works best. A JPG will carry its white background as a visible box, so if you photographed a signature on paper, remove the background first or draw it here instead.
- Does signing change anything else in the document?
- No. The signature is appended to the page's content, not merged into it, so nothing already on the page is re-rendered or recompressed. Page size, rotation, bookmarks and form fields all survive.
- Can it sign a password-protected PDF?
- Not while it is locked. Remove the password first with the unlock tool, which needs the password you already know, then sign the result.
