How it works / no cloud
A conversion engine, not an upload form.
filetity draws the part of the image you selected onto a canvas of exactly that size and saves it. The original file is never changed and never uploaded. A PNG stays a PNG, so a lossless image does not quietly become a lossy one.

- Yes, with no watermark and no page limit.
- Does it need an account?
- No. There is no account system.
- Is my file processed on my device?
- Yes. The file is read by your browser and never uploaded. There is no server to send it to.
- What formats are supported?
- JPG, PNG and WebP in. The crop comes back in the same kind of format it went in as: PNG stays PNG, everything else is saved as JPG.
- What are the limits?
- One image at a time. Very large images are bounded by the memory your browser will give a canvas. The crop cannot be larger than the image.
- Does it work on mobile?
- Yes, on any modern mobile browser. Large files are limited by the memory the phone gives the browser.
- Does it work offline?
- Yes, once the page has loaded. The tool keeps working with no network connection.
- Can I crop to an exact size?
- Yes. Drag the box roughly where you want it, then type the exact width and height in the boxes underneath. Those fields are also how you crop without a mouse.
- Does cropping reduce the quality?
- Cropping a PNG does not: it stays lossless. Cropping a JPG re-encodes what is left, which costs a little, though at the quality used here you would struggle to see it. Nothing is scaled, so the pixels you keep are the pixels you had.
- How do I crop a square for a profile picture?
- Choose Square above the image. The box then keeps a 1:1 shape however you drag it, so you can position it without watching the numbers.
- Is my photo uploaded to crop it?
- No. The image is read from your disk into the page and cropped there. You can disconnect from the network after the page loads and it still works.
