How it works / no cloud
A conversion engine, not an upload form.
filetity renders each PDF page with pdf.js in your browser, then writes a .pptx around those images. A PowerPoint file is a zip of Open XML parts, so the deck is assembled with the same zip library the download buttons already use. No engine is downloaded to do it and no file is uploaded.

- Is it free?
- Yes, with no watermark and no page limit.
- Does it need an account?
- No. There is no account system.
- Is my file processed on my device?
- Yes. The file is read by your browser and never uploaded. There is no server to send it to.
- What formats are supported?
- PDF in. PPTX out, one slide per page, sized to the first page.
- What are the limits?
- Slides hold pictures of the pages. The text on them is not editable, selectable or searchable in PowerPoint. Output size grows with page count and resolution.
- Does it work on mobile?
- Yes, on any modern mobile browser. Large files are limited by the memory the phone gives the browser.
- Does it work offline?
- Yes, once the page has loaded. The tool keeps working with no network connection.
- Will the text be editable in PowerPoint?
- No. Each slide holds a picture of the page, so you cannot click into a paragraph and retype it. This is stated plainly because it is the thing people are most often surprised by. A PDF stores positioned glyphs rather than paragraphs, and rebuilding editable text boxes from that means guessing at where paragraphs, columns and tables were. Tools that claim to do it quietly get it wrong on anything but the simplest layout. To change a word, edit the PDF and convert again.
- Can I search the text in the slides?
- No, for the same reason. If you need searchable text out of a PDF, use the PDF to text tool, which extracts the real text layer, or OCR for a scanned document.
- How big will the file be?
- Roughly the size of the page images added together. At 150 DPI an A4 page is usually 150 to 300 KB, so a 100 page PDF lands around 20 to 30 MB. Drop to 72 DPI for something to email, or use the page range box to take only the pages you need.
- What happens if my PDF has pages of different sizes?
- PowerPoint has one slide size for the whole deck, so the first page sets it. Any page with a different shape is fitted inside that slide and centred rather than stretched to fill it, because stretching would change how the page looks without telling you.
- Will it open in Keynote or Google Slides?
- It is a standard .pptx, so it should. The file was checked against LibreOffice Impress and Apple's own importer while it was being built. If a reader refuses it, that is a bug worth reporting rather than something you should work around.
- Can it convert a password protected PDF?
- Not while it is locked. Remove the password first with the unlock tool, which needs the password you already know, then convert the result.
