filetity reads the pixels into browser memory and replaces each red, green and blue value with 255 minus itself. Transparency is left alone, so an image with a transparent background keeps it rather than turning solid.

What formats are supported?

What are the limits?
No image count limit. Very large images are bounded by the memory your browser gives a canvas.
Does it work on mobile?
Yes, on any modern mobile browser. Large files are limited by the memory the phone gives the browser.
Does it work offline?
Yes, once the page has loaded. The tool keeps working with no network connection.
What does inverting an image actually do?
It replaces every colour with its opposite: white becomes black, red becomes cyan, and a photograph becomes something that looks like a film negative. Applying it twice returns the original exactly.
Can I use this to read a film negative?
Partly. Inverting is the first step and it will make the image readable, but scanned colour negatives also carry an orange base layer that inverting alone does not remove, so colours will look cold. For black and white negatives the result is usually good straight away.
Does it change my transparent background?
No. Only the colour channels are inverted. Alpha is left exactly as it was, so a transparent PNG stays transparent instead of turning into a solid block.
