filetity divides the image into squares of the size you choose and paints each square with the average of the pixels inside it. Averaging rather than sampling one corner matters: sampling can keep a single bright pixel from a face and leave it recognisable.

Does it need an account?
No. There is no account system.
Is my file processed on my device?
Yes. The file is read by your browser and never uploaded. There is no server to send it to.
What formats are supported?
JPG, PNG and WebP in. The same format out, so nothing else about the file changes.
What are the limits?
Block size from 2 to 64 pixels, applied to the whole image. There is no selective or partial pixelation here.
Does it work on mobile?
Yes, on any modern mobile browser. Large files are limited by the memory the phone gives the browser.
Does it work offline?
Yes, once the page has loaded. The tool keeps working with no network connection.
Is pixelating enough to hide sensitive information?
Not reliably. Pixelated text in particular has been recovered before, because a block average still carries information about what was underneath and the set of possible characters is small. If you are hiding a name, an address or a card number, cover it with a solid block rather than pixelating it.
Can I pixelate just one area?
Not on this page. It applies to the whole image. Crop the region out, pixelate it, and paste it back if you need it in one place only.
What block size should I use?
Bigger blocks hide more. For a face in a photo, something around a twentieth of the face's width is the usual starting point. The page shows the size in pixels so you can judge it against the image's own dimensions.
