How do I repeat text a set number of times?
Type or paste the text into filetity's repeater, say how many copies you want, and choose what goes between them: a new line, a space, a comma, or nothing at all. The result builds as you type and can be copied or downloaded as a text file. You can number each copy, which is what makes long repetitions usable, since otherwise identical lines are impossible to tell apart afterwards. The tool caps by the size of the result rather than by a count of copies, because ten thousand copies of one word is a small file while ten thousand copies of a paragraph is tens of megabytes no browser will lay out, and it tells you before you press anything rather than after the tab stops responding. Nothing is uploaded.

When you would use this
Situations, not settings.
- Test data with a set number of rows
- Repeat a line a thousand times with numbering on, so every row is distinguishable, and paste it straight into a fixture or a spreadsheet.
- Filling a field to its limit to see what breaks
- Choose no separator and a large count to build a long string, and the tool refuses before the size becomes something the tab cannot lay out.
- A list that needs the same entry many times
- Comma separated for a config value, one per line for a spreadsheet column, joined for a test string. The separator is the whole choice.

The repetition happens in the page as you type, and the tool works out how large the result would be before building it, so an impossible request is refused instead of freezing the tab. Nothing is sent anywhere and there is no queue.

- What are the limits?
- Capped by the size of the result rather than by the number of copies, because a hundred thousand copies of one word and a hundred copies of an essay are very different requests.
- Does it work on mobile?
- Yes, on any modern mobile browser. Large files are limited by the memory the phone gives the browser.
- Does it work offline?
- Yes, once the page has loaded. The tool keeps working with no network connection.
- Why is it limited by size rather than by a number of copies?
- Because the count on its own says nothing about the cost. Ten thousand copies of one word is a small file, and ten thousand copies of a paragraph is tens of megabytes that no browser will lay out in a text box. The tool works out the finished size first and only refuses when the result would actually be a problem.
- Can I number each copy?
- Yes, and it is the option people usually want second. Turning it on prefixes each repetition with its position, which is what you need for numbered lists, test data with distinguishable rows, and anything where identical lines would be impossible to tell apart afterwards.
- What separator should I choose?
- A new line for lists and anything being pasted into a spreadsheet column. A space or a comma for a sentence or a comma separated list. Nothing at all when you want the text run together, which is the case for filling a field to a length or building a long test string.
- Is there a limit on how long the text can be?
- Not on the input, beyond what a text box will hold. The only ceiling is on the result, and the page tells you the moment your combination of length and count would go past it, rather than letting you press a button and wait for a tab to stop responding.
- Does any of this get sent anywhere?
- No. There is no server in this product at all, so the text stays in the tab and disappears when you close it. Turn the network off after the page loads and the tool keeps working exactly the same.
