How do I generate lorem ipsum text?
Pick what you need (paragraphs, sentences, an exact number of words, or list items), pick how many, and generate. filetity builds the text in your browser from the traditional Cicero vocabulary, and lets you choose how long the sentences run, which is the part that matters: a layout breaks at short and long sentence lengths, not at the average one, so placeholder text that is always average tests nothing. The result can start with the familiar Lorem ipsum dolor sit amet opening or not, and can come out as plain text or wrapped in p and li tags with no classes or styles attached.

When you would use this
Situations, not settings.
- A mockup that needs text before the copy is written
- Latin nobody can read keeps the review about the layout. English placeholder text gets read, argued about, and occasionally shipped.
- Testing whether a card survives a long title
- Set the sentence length to Long and see what happens to the design at thirty words instead of finding out in production.
- Filling a database or a CMS for a demo
- An exact word count per field, or list items one per line, with no tags attached unless you ask for them.
How it works / no cloud
A conversion engine, not an upload form.
The words are the Cicero passage printers have set since the 1500s, drawn at random from the same vocabulary, and the sentence and paragraph lengths are what makes this useful rather than the words. A layout does not break on average text, it breaks at the extremes: short sentences expose a grid that only works with even columns, long ones expose a container with no maximum width. So the length range is yours to set, the word count is exact when you ask for words, and the output can come out wrapped in p or li tags ready to paste into a template.

Straight answers
No accordion. Nothing hidden.
- Is it free?
- Yes, with no watermark and no page limit.
- Does it need an account?
- No. There is no account system.
- Is my file processed on my device?
- Yes. The file is read by your browser and never uploaded. There is no server to send it to.
- What formats are supported?
- Plain text, or HTML with each block in a p tag and a list in one ul. Copy it or download it.
- What are the limits?
- Up to 200 blocks at a time, which is far more than a mockup needs.
- Does it work on mobile?
- Yes, on any modern mobile browser. Large files are limited by the memory the phone gives the browser.
- Does it work offline?
- Yes, once the page has loaded. The tool keeps working with no network connection.
- What is lorem ipsum actually saying?
- It is scrambled Latin from Cicero's De Finibus Bonorum et Malorum, written in 45 BC, cut up by a printer in the 1500s to make a type specimen. It is deliberately not readable prose, and that is the feature: real copy in a mockup gets read and argued about, and English placeholder text has a habit of shipping to production.
- Can I get an exact number of words?
- Yes. Choose words and type the number, and that is exactly what comes out, including when the traditional opening is switched on. Paragraphs and sentences vary on purpose, because text that is always the same length tests nothing about a layout.
- Why change the sentence length?
- Because that is what the design is being tested against. A card that looks right with fifteen word sentences can break with five or with thirty, and you find out in production if the placeholder text was always average. Short and Long are here to fail your layout on purpose while it is still cheap.
- Does the HTML option add anything I do not want?
- No. Paragraphs come out as p elements and list items as one ul with li inside, with no classes, no wrapper div and no inline styles. It is the markup you would have typed, so it drops into a template without anything to strip out.
