How it works / no cloud
A conversion engine, not an upload form.
filetity decodes the PNG with the browser's own codec, redraws it onto a white ground, and re-encodes it as JPG at the quality you choose. Nothing is uploaded and no engine is downloaded, because the browser already has both codecs.

Straight answers
No accordion. Nothing hidden.
- Is it free?
- Yes, with no watermark and no page limit.
- Does it need an account?
- No. There is no account system.
- Is my file processed on my device?
- Yes. The file is read by your browser and never uploaded. There is no server to send it to.
- What formats are supported?
- PNG in. JPG out, one file per image, or a ZIP when you convert several.
- What are the limits?
- No image count limit. Very large images are bounded by the memory your browser will give a canvas.
- Does it work on mobile?
- Yes, on any modern mobile browser. Large files are limited by the memory the phone gives the browser.
- Does it work offline?
- Yes, once the page has loaded. The tool keeps working with no network connection.
- How much smaller will the file be?
- For photographs, usually a great deal: PNG stores every pixel exactly and JPG does not. For screenshots, logos and flat colour the saving is smaller, and the result can look worse. The size is shown before you download, so you can judge it.
- What happens to transparency?
- It is filled with white, because JPG has no transparency channel. If the transparent area matters, keep the PNG or convert to WebP instead.
- Will text and sharp lines still look right?
- Less right than in the PNG. JPG is built for photographs and puts faint halos around hard edges, which is most visible on text and diagrams. Raise the quality setting if you can see it.
