Situations, not settings.
- A housing society notice written in English first
- Paste it and take the Marathi to whoever posts the board. Have a Marathi reader glance over it: the output is a draft, not a finished notice.
- A list of English product names for a Marathi catalogue
- Drop the .csv. The name cells are translated, the price and SKU cells are not touched, and the file opens in the same spreadsheet with the same columns.
- Subtitles for a Marathi audience on an English video
- Drop the .srt. Marathi lines, unchanged timings, and a file named with -mr before its extension so the original is still there beside it.
How it works / no cloud
A conversion engine, not an upload form.
filetity hands the text to the translator built into Chrome, which runs a translation model on your device rather than on a server. Plain text goes a paragraph at a time, because a model given half a phrase answers about half a phrase: a wrapped line that read "Most / of the staff work from home" came back as "Over-employees work from home" until the paragraph was joined. A subtitle goes a cue at a time, for the same reason, which means a two row cue comes back as one row and the player wraps it. Italics and colour inside a cue are kept when the translation brings them back intact and dropped when it does not, because a broken tag is worse than none. A CSV goes a cell at a time, where the pieces really are separate. The first time English to Marathi is used, Chrome downloads that language pack from Google, once, and keeps it; the page shows the download and says so, because it is the one moment anything crosses the network. Your text never does: measured with the browser's own network log, translation makes zero requests. The limit is the model, not the plumbing. In a 20 sentence English to Hindi test read by a person, 16 were clean and 2 changed meaning: "with the wifi off" lost the "off", and "out of milk" came out as milk that had run out of something. Read the result before you rely on it.

Straight answers
No accordion. Nothing hidden.
- Is it free?
- Yes, with no watermark and no page limit.
- Does it need an account?
- No. There is no account system.
- Is my file processed on my device?
- Yes. Chrome's built-in translator runs on this device and the page makes no request of its own. The one download is Chrome fetching its language pack from Google, once per language, and your text is not part of it.
- What formats are supported?
- English text, typed or pasted, or a .txt, .md, .srt, .vtt or .csv file in. Marathi out, in Devanagari, in the same format.
- What are the limits?
- Chrome 138 or newer only; Firefox and Safari have no on-device translator and are refused with a message. Quality is good enough to understand a document and not to publish one unchecked: 16 of 20 test sentences were clean, 2 changed meaning. Plain text is translated a paragraph at a time, so a hard wrapped paragraph comes back as one line rather than in its original wrap.
- Does it work on mobile?
- Yes, on any modern mobile browser. Large files are limited by the memory the phone gives the browser.
- Does it work offline?
- Yes, once Chrome has the language pack. The first use of a pair downloads it; after that the page translates with no network connection.
- Is Marathi output as reliable as the Hindi?
- Unknown. Hindi is the pair that was read by a person here, at 16 clean sentences in 20. Marathi shares the Devanagari script and the same model family, which says nothing about its error rate, so the honest answer is that it has not been measured and the output should be read by a Marathi speaker before it goes anywhere that matters.
- Will it confuse Marathi with Hindi?
- Not on this page. The target is fixed as Marathi by the URL, so the translator is asked for Marathi and nothing else. The place that could confuse them is detection on /translate, where the two scripts look alike; here there is no detection because the source is fixed as English.
- Can I translate a CSV of English product names into Marathi?
- Yes. Every cell with letters in it is translated, including the header row, and the delimiter and quoting are kept as the file had them. Cells that are only numbers, dates or blanks are not sent to the translator at all, so a price column comes back untouched.
- Where does the Marathi pack come from?
- From Google, fetched by Chrome itself the first time English to Marathi is used on your device, and kept by the browser after that. This page does not fetch it and cannot; the only thing it sees is the download progress it shows you. Your text is never part of that download.
