## Capabilities

- Free: Yes, with no watermark and no page limit.
- Account required: No. There is no account system.
- Processed on device: Yes. The file is read by your browser and never uploaded. There is no server to send it to.
- Formats: TIFF and TIF in, including multi-page files and CCITT fax compression. One PDF out, with a page per image.
- Limits: What is refused is refused by name rather than handed back damaged: PackBits, JPEG inside a TIFF, CMYK colour, floating point samples, separate colour planes, and tiled colour images. A refusal on any page refuses the file, because half a document is the same defect as the first page of one. Pages are embedded as lossless images, so a large scan makes a large PDF; run it through the PDF compressor afterwards if it needs to be emailed.
- Mobile: Yes, on any modern mobile browser. Large files are limited by the memory the phone gives the browser.
- Offline: Yes. Nothing is downloaded to make this work, so it keeps working with no network connection once the page has loaded.

## Questions

### Does a multi-page TIFF stay multi-page?

Yes, and it is the reason to use this page rather than converting to an image first. A TIFF holding six scanned sheets becomes a PDF of six pages, in the order they are stored. Our image converters refuse a multi-page TIFF on purpose, because one image in has to mean one file out there; a PDF is the one output with somewhere to put the rest.

### Will a fax or scanner TIFF work?

Yes. Those are usually CCITT Group 3 or Group 4, which is decoded here, in both bit orders and both black and white polarities. That is the compression most converters quietly refuse.

### Is the scan re-compressed?

No. Each page goes into the PDF as a lossless image, so the pixels in the PDF are the pixels in the TIFF. That keeps text sharp, and it does mean the PDF can be large. Compressing it afterwards is a separate decision you can make with the result in front of you.

### Can I put several TIFFs into one PDF?

Yes. Drop them all in and they are added in the order shown, which you can change before converting. Every page of every file goes in, so three two-page TIFFs give a six page PDF.
