# SVG to PNG

Turn SVG drawings into PNG images at the size you choose, transparent or on white. Pick the size before you export, because a PNG cannot grow.

## Capabilities

- Free: Yes, with no watermark and no page limit.
- Account required: No. There is no account system.
- Processed on device: Yes. The file is read by your browser and never uploaded. There is no server to send it to.
- Formats: SVG in. PNG out, one file per drawing, or a ZIP when you convert several. Transparent background by default, or white.
- Limits: No file count limit. Very large exports are bounded by the memory your browser will give a canvas. Fonts and images the SVG links to from the web are not fetched, so a drawing that depends on them will differ.
- Mobile: Yes, on any modern mobile browser. Large files are limited by the memory the phone gives the browser.
- Offline: Yes, after you have used it once. Your browser keeps what the tool needs, so it then works with no network connection.

## Questions

### What size will the PNG be?

By default, whatever the SVG declares, multiplied by the scale you choose. The size is shown next to each file before you convert. If a drawing declares no size at all, which is common for icons, 512 by 512 is used as the starting point, and the tool says so rather than picking quietly.

### Why does my SVG have no size?

Because it does not need one. An SVG is a drawing, and many are written with only a viewBox so they can be scaled to whatever the page wants. That works everywhere except when you need actual pixels, which is exactly this moment, so a number has to be chosen.

### Will the background be transparent?

Yes, unless you choose white. PNG keeps transparency, so anything the SVG leaves empty stays empty. Pick white if the image is going somewhere that shows transparency as black or as a checkerboard.

### Can I go back from PNG to SVG?

Not meaningfully, and be wary of anything that claims otherwise. Going to PNG throws away the shapes and keeps a grid of pixels. Tracing that back produces a new drawing that approximates the old one, not the original.

### Why does the text in my drawing come out in the wrong font?

Because the font is linked from the web and the export does not fetch it. The SVG is loaded as an image, which blocks remote requests, so the browser substitutes a font it has. Convert the text to paths in your editor before exporting, or install the font so the browser can find it locally.
