# SVG to JPG

Convert SVG to JPG at a width you choose. The width is permanent once exported, and the background is white, because JPG holds no transparency.

## Capabilities

- Free: Yes, with no watermark and no page limit.
- Account required: No. There is no account system.
- Processed on device: Yes. The file is read by your browser and never uploaded. There is no server to send it to.
- Formats: SVG in. JPG out, one file per drawing, or a ZIP when you convert several. Always on a white background.
- Limits: No file count limit. The width you choose is permanent, because a JPG cannot be enlarged afterwards without going soft. Fonts and images the SVG links to from the web are not fetched, so a drawing that leans on them will differ.
- Mobile: Yes, on any modern mobile browser. Large files are limited by the memory the phone gives the browser.
- Offline: Yes, after you have used it once. Your browser keeps what the tool needs, so it then works with no network connection.

## Questions

### Why can I not pick a transparent background?

Because JPG has no transparency channel, so the control is not shown at all rather than offered and ignored. Anything the drawing leaves empty is filled with white. If the logo has to sit on a coloured page, export a PNG or a WebP instead.

### Is the width really permanent?

Yes. An SVG stores shapes, so it draws sharp at any size on any screen. A JPG stores a grid of pixels at one size. Export at 400 pixels and you cannot later get 1600 without it going soft, so pick the largest size you will ever need and scale down from there.

### Should a logo be a JPG at all?

Usually not. A logo is flat colour with hard edges, and JPG puts faint halos around exactly those. PNG and WebP keep the lines clean and the background clear. JPG earns its place when something downstream takes nothing else.

### Can I get back to SVG afterwards?

Not meaningfully. Exporting throws the shapes away and keeps pixels. Tracing those back makes a new drawing that approximates the old one, and it will not match the original's paths, text or layers.

### What happens if the file is not really an SVG?

It is refused with a message saying it could not be drawn. The tool hands the file to the browser as an image and the browser either draws it or does not; a renamed PNG, or an SVG with a broken tag, comes back as the second case. Fix the file and drop it again.
