## Capabilities

- Free: Yes, with no watermark and no page limit.
- Account required: No. There is no account system.
- Processed on device: Yes. The file is read by your browser and never uploaded. There is no server to send it to.
- Formats: JPG in. PNG out, one file per image, or a ZIP when you convert several.
- Limits: No image count limit. Very large images are bounded by the memory your browser will give a canvas.
- Mobile: Yes, on any modern mobile browser. Large files are limited by the memory the phone gives the browser.
- Offline: Yes, after you have used it once. Your browser keeps what the tool needs, so it then works with no network connection.

## Questions

### Will this improve the quality of my photo?

No, and no tool can. Whatever the JPG already lost is gone. PNG stops any further loss from this point on, which is why it is the right format to edit in, but it cannot put back detail that was never stored.

### Why is the PNG bigger than the JPG?

Because it is lossless. PNG stores every pixel exactly instead of approximating, and for a photograph that usually means several times the size. That is the trade you are making on purpose.

### Does this give my image a transparent background?

No. PNG supports transparency, but a JPG has none to carry over, so the result is fully opaque. Removing a background is a different job from changing the format.

### Is the camera information kept?

No. The photo is decoded to pixels and written out fresh, so the EXIF block with the camera model, date and GPS location is not carried into the PNG. The orientation flag is applied before writing, so the picture comes out the right way up even though the flag itself is gone.

### Can I convert a whole folder at once?

Yes. Drop as many JPGs as you like and they are converted one after another, with a progress count, and arrive together as a ZIP. Memory is released after each image, so a large batch does not need every photo held at once.
