### Has the Tamil output been checked?

Not sentence by sentence. The measured pair on this site is English to Hindi, where 16 of 20 sentences were clean and 2 changed meaning. Tamil comes from the same on-device model family and Chrome reported it downloadable on the same day, but nobody here has read 20 Tamil sentences against their English yet, so treat the output as a draft.

### Does the Tamil come out as Tamil script or in English letters?

Tamil script. The output is real Tamil text you can paste into a document, a message or a form, not a Roman spelling of it. Names and brand names are the thing to check, because a translator turns a name into the Tamil word it sounds like rather than leaving it alone.

### Can I translate an English subtitle file into Tamil?

Yes, an .srt or .vtt. The spoken lines are translated and everything that makes it a subtitle file, the numbering, the timings, the header, is left exactly as it was. The result plays in the same player at the same moments.

### Why does Tamil need Chrome?

Because the translator is Chrome's own, built into version 138 and later and run on your device. There is no Tamil model on this site and no server behind it; a browser without Chrome's translator gets a message saying so rather than a worse translation from somewhere else.
