## Capabilities

- Free: Yes, with no watermark and no page limit.
- Account required: No. There is no account system.
- Processed on device: Yes. Chrome's built-in translator runs on this device and the page makes no request of its own. The one download is Chrome fetching its language pack from Google, once per language, and your text is not part of it.
- Formats: English text, typed or pasted, or a .txt, .md, .srt, .vtt or .csv file in. Kannada out, in Kannada script, in the same format.
- Limits: Chrome 138 or newer only; Firefox and Safari have no on-device translator and are refused with a message. Quality is good enough to understand a document and not to publish one unchecked: 16 of 20 test sentences were clean, 2 changed meaning. Plain text is translated a paragraph at a time, so a hard wrapped paragraph comes back as one line rather than in its original wrap.
- Mobile: Yes, on any modern mobile browser. Large files are limited by the memory the phone gives the browser.
- Offline: Yes, once Chrome has the language pack. The first use of a pair downloads it; after that the page translates with no network connection.

## Questions

### Has anyone checked the Kannada?

Not here, not yet. The only pair read by a person on this site is English to Hindi, and it was 16 of 20 clean. Kannada was confirmed downloadable in Chrome on the same day and nothing more. A Kannada reader should look at the output before it is used for anything that matters.

### Can I translate a markdown file into Kannada without breaking it?

Yes. Fenced code blocks, inline code, link addresses and bare URLs are never sent to the translator, and a heading or list marker stays where it was with the text after it translated. The result is still valid markdown with Kannada prose in it.

### Does the page work without a network connection?

After the first use, yes. Chrome downloads its English to Kannada pack from Google once and keeps it, and from then on this page translates with the network switched off. The first use needs a connection for that one download and for nothing else.

### Is the Kannada output copyable text?

Yes, plain Kannada script in a text box, with a Copy button and a Save as .txt button. It is not an image and not a transliteration, so it pastes into a form, a document or a message as ordinary text.
