## Capabilities

- Free: Yes, with no watermark and no page limit.
- Account required: No. There is no account system.
- Processed on device: Yes. The file is read by your browser and never uploaded. There is no server to send it to.
- Formats: Animated or still GIF in. GIF out at the crop you choose, animation preserved.
- Limits: One GIF at a time. A rectangle that runs past the edge is clamped to the edge rather than refused.
- Mobile: Yes, on any modern mobile browser. Large files are limited by the memory the phone gives the browser.
- Offline: Yes, after you have used it once. Your browser keeps what the tool needs, so it then works with no network connection.

## Questions

### Will cropping break the animation?

No. The same rectangle is taken from every frame, and the frames keep their order and their delays, so the animation plays as before inside the new bounds.

### Why do other croppers leave smears or trails?

Because a GIF frame is usually only the part of the picture that changed, positioned somewhere inside the canvas. Cropping those patches directly cuts the wrong region out of most of them. This page rebuilds each frame into a complete picture first, then crops.

### Can I crop to an exact pixel size?

Yes. The four boxes are left, top, width and height in pixels, and the header above them shows the GIF's real dimensions to measure against.

### Does the loop setting survive?

Yes. The loop count from the original is read and written back, so a GIF that looped forever still does, and one that played once still plays once.

### What happens if the numbers I type run past the edge?

The rectangle is pulled back to the edge and the output is sized to the pixels it did cut, so the header never claims a size the frames do not have. A width larger than the GIF gives you the GIF's full width from your left edge.

### Does cropping a GIF change its colours?

Not normally. Every output pixel comes from the original, so the palette still fits. Colours are only re-fitted when compositing pushed a frame over 256 colours, which cropping on its own cannot cause.
